Barton County Youth Care
An agency that maintains a residential facility known as Forest Place. This residence has capacity for 10 girls who are placed by various Kansas agencies. The goal of the program is returning girls to their natural homes or placing them in long term foster care.
Barton County Young Men's Organization
A group residential facility capable of housing up to eight boys between the ages of 12 and 19. The goal is to provide a structured environment with discipline for boys referred to it by the court, Kansas JJA, or Saint Francis Academy.
Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas provides help and hope for people in need regardless of faith. Currently, agency services include infant adoption, adoption search and reunion, free pregnancy support, counseling, life-skills courses, emergency assistance, a non-food pantry, legal immigration support, refugee resettlement, trafficked victims assistance, disaster relief and more.
Central Kansas CASA, Inc provides trained community volunteers who maintain regular contact with the children whom they are appointed to, their parents, foster parents, the Court, and various agencies that provide the children with the specialized services they require. CASA volunteers monitor compliance with court orders and make recommendations to the court to promote the child's best interests. CASA volunteers are the "eyes and ears of the Judge" until safe and permanent homes are found for the children whom we serve.
A licensed daycare center that provides quality childcare for children 2 weeks to 5 years of age. Caring Hands provides healthy meals and snacks. The daycare incorporates a preschool curriculum with age appropriate activities each day. Caring Hands takes St. Francis and DCF Children. Busing is provided by the Larned school district.
CPRF enables people with all types of physical disabilities to achieve their employment and independence goals. Our mission is to provide people with the customized services, support, and technology they need in order to facilitate their chosen personal and economic independence, with an emphasis on employment and training opportunities.
We offer computer training, wheelchair modification, and accessible housing, as well as providing employment options through our affiliate organizations: Center Industries Corporation and BTCO, Inc. Over the last 40 years, CPRF has evolved from a grass roots organization into a recognized leader in rehabilitation engineering, specialized services, advocacy, job placement, and employment research and training. We are focused on improving the day-to-day lives of people with disabilities, and work to eliminate independence barriers in the home, workplace, and community.
Child Abuse Prevention Education
Presents child abuse and neglect prevention classes to children in Head Start/preschool through sixth grade. The classes are intended to teach children how to recognize, resist and report abuse, how to be safe around strangers and how to build self-esteem.
Provides home care services for clients such as: personal care, homemaking services, respite care, handyman, medications box set-up and wellness monitoring visits.
Provides a comfortable atmosphere for community citizens to gather. Seniors gather daily for speakers, lunches, cards meetings and several other activities. The center is available to the community for different functions and is handicap accessible. Friendship meal and the city bus phone are located at the center.
The Family Crisis Center, Inc. is steadfast in our mission to bring awareness to the masses of the rapidly growing issues of Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence and Child Abuse. It is the purpose of this agency to empower victims/survivors by ensuring availability of resources, accurate information, and emotional support. We have a Domestic and Sexual Violence Program (provides comprehensive services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault along with their families and friends and creates awareness through professional trainings and community education) and a Child Advocacy Center (works as part of a multi-disciplinary team including law enforcement, child protective services, mental health, and medical providers to conduct forensic interviews with children who have been abused and to support the non-offending caregivers) as well as a shelter for men, women and children in need of a safe haven.

Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland (GSKH) builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. The Girl Scouts Leadership Experience engages girls in discovering their interests, connecting with others and taking action. GSKH serves an economically, geographically, and ethnically diverse group of more than 15,000 girls and adults in 80 Kansas Counties. Girl Scouts is committed to providing the future leaders of our communities the opportunity to thrive in girl-only learning environments where they feel encouraged, safe, and supported.
Licensed to provide quality, professional child care for children, infants to 12 years of age. Functioning with an education preschool component year round. The center provides CACFP approved breakfast, lunch and snack. The school age program provides transportation from school to after school care, care on school days out, and a full day summer school age program packed full of engaging activities, local field trips, and swimming twice a week.
Habitat for Humanity is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that builds safe, decent, affordable housing for low income families in the Barton County area. The families purchase the homes through zero-interest mortgages, so their payments can be used to fund future projects.
Hoisington Community Food Bank
Hoisington Community Food Bank serves Hoisington and Northern Barton County as a temporary food source in times of emergency or crisis. Located in the basement of the United Methodist Church 467 W 3rd. 620-653-2119
The City of Hoisington offers a trolley service for rides to anywhere within the City Limits. The Trolley operates out of the Friendship House located on the East side of Pride Park at the corner of E. 3rd and Oak. The Trolley may be contacted at 620-653-2555.
The Hoisington History Museum is located at 120 E 2nd and is free of charge. The Hoisington History Museum's goal is to not only display the history but to bring it to life in our minds and hearts, providing you with an understanding of our rich heritage and to be proud of our small town and community.
Hoisington Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots provides a Merry Christmas to children in Hoisington each year who wouldn't otherwise have any gifts under the tree.
The main objective of IIP is to give the victim, offender, and community a way to be fully restored. Restorative justice is a concept that allows all to:
1) understand the impact of criminal behavior to the offender;
2) Acknowledge and begin to repair the harm done to the victim and community;
3) and empower victims in their need of closure. IIP assigns consequences specifically designed to provide education and guidance to the offender. It requires active participation, critical thinking and development of problem solving skills. It instructs offenders about justice, the law and the consequences of their actions and makes them part of the solution to juvenile crime. This program provides first-time misdemeanor offenders the benefit of prevention education, and awareness of their actions, while holding them accountable.
Meals on Wheels of Barton County coordinates the meals and the meal delivery for Barton County (Great Bend, Ellinwood, & Hoisington). These meals are not only a nutritious hot meal to homebound seniors, but almost as important is the wellness check. Training is provided before you start delivering and volunteers can pick from available days and available routes.
Orphan Grain Train
The Orphan Grain Train Collection Center is housed in the old Pawnee County Courthouse built in 1878. It was purchased in 2012 to provide a permanent home for the Pawnee County Food Pantry and to collect clothing for the Orphan Grain Train. It soon became apparent that other organizations who serve the citizens of Pawnee County needed space for their activities.
RSVP and Volunteers in Action of Central KS strives to meet the unmet needs of the community by utilizing the talents of their registered volunteers.
Volunteers receive training, opportunity choice (episodic, periodic, or on-going). We also provide a supplemental insurance and a myriad of recognition moments. The best thing we offer, is to help those in your community, which in turn makes you feel good.
Provides emergency assistance to local persons in the areas of clothing, rent, utilities, glasses, school supplies, limited fuel etc. Transient assistance of gasoline, lodging and food is given. Disaster assistance is also available.
