United Way of Central Kansas (UWCK) is proud to announce the awarding of five Impact Grants totaling $2,250 to support programs and projects aimed at strengthening communities across Barton and Pawnee Counties.
The May 2025 Impact Grant recipients are:
- ElderCare for its Friendship Meals program, providing nutritious meals and vital social interaction for seniors.
- Barton County CORE Community, supporting its mission to help families heal, solve poverty, and empower communities through long-term support and mentorship.
- GPS Kids Club, enhancing their summer program that provides a safe and engaging environment for local youth.
- Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas, helping to launch their Golden Harvest Thrift Store, which is set to open August 2nd and will serve as a resource hub and revenue source for essential services.
- Ellinwood School Community Library, to help provide students and families with a copy of Games of Deception by Andrew Maraniss, a featured title to complement the upcoming Americans and the Holocaust traveling exhibit which will be hosted in Ellinwood.
"Impact Grants were designed to help our partners across Barton and Pawnee County launch new ideas and strengthen programs that serve our communities in meaningful ways,” said Charell Owings, Executive Director of United Way of Central Kansas. “We are proud to be a part of the work that they are doing and look forward to seeing the impact these great organizations make in our community.”
